The Great Escape Part 1 - A Fictional Adventure

Image
Hey! So this post is a bit different than most of my other ones. I have decided to start writing a fun fictional story through my blog. Every two months, I will post one part of the story on the first day. First in February, then April, and so on. So fasten your seat belts, and get ready for the first-ever part of The Great Escape!           Katie Hayes-Journal entry 01: The future seems to come faster and faster as I get older. Some days I feel like I have big plans for my life, and some days I don’t even want to think about what I’m going to have for breakfast. Sometimes I wish my life was quieter. More peaceful, easy, and simple. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? NO! Of course not! Simple, easy, what am I thinking? Just imagine what life would be like if I were an agent for the FBI!                  “Hayes!” the commander shouted at me.      “Yes ma’am!” I answered back, running down the dark hallway of the underground headquarters.      “I need you and your team to go investigate the mur

Sing 2 - A Movie Review

Image
Sing two is the hilarious sequel to the franchise's first movie, Sing. The story follows a koala named Buster. He, along with a hedgehog, an elephant, a lizard, a gorilla, and two pigs as they make their way to redshore city to perform their amazing play.      The movie begins with a song and dance number performed on stage and from there, it gets right to the action. A scout for Mr. Jimmy Crystal's theatre company visits the play, but is not pleased with what is performed. Seeing this, Buster decides to take matters into his own hands.      The group then makes their way to Crystal's theatre, and eventually, their play is approved. Buster eagerly gets started. However, after promising that Clay Calloway would be in the production, he realizes he must set out to find him.      Through a journey of singing, dancing, shouting, searching, and acting, the group gives their all towards the production. Overall, Sing two is a hilarious, fun-filled movie for the whole family.

Reading Habits

Reading is one of those things that just about everyone you meet will have a different opinion about. I personally have tons of friends who are obsessed with reading - and I mean OBSESSED. It makes me feel like I'm totally against reading.       Don't get me wrong, I do like to read. I'm just not obsessed with it. I prefer reading in moderation. I go through phases. Half the time I adore reading, and half the time I can't sit still for even two minutes with a book.             I guess I'm more of a writer. For me, it seems much more enjoyable when I can make characters do whatever I want them to. When I can control them.       However, sometimes I read a lot. Like a lot-lot. Sometimes it actually surprises me how much I've read. I'm not a reader, I think to myself. But somehow, I read?       Weird.       I have recently found that along with strengthening your brain and increasing your memory, reading may also help you live longer and reduce stress leve

Paint Colors

I have recently repainted my bedroom. I read somewhere that painting your room blue can make you more creative, so I knew I wanted some shade of blue. I looked through paint palets, searching for the right color. It was so much harder than I thought. I found about seven different shades of blue, and it took me two weeks before I actually decided on one.              I kept searching, and finally, I found it! The perfect bright blueish turquoise that would suit my furniture so well. A few weeks later, I bought the paint and before I knew it, my room was complete.            So that's my story. Not super interesting, I know. It's the typical story of how any room gets painted. But This is too short for a post so I have to keep writing.            You know how I said painting your room blue can make you more creative? Well, turns out that it allows you to be more open-minded, to think outside the box. That's why it's also a great color to paint an office where a lot of bra

Common Names

Emma. That's my name. It always has been, probably always will be. I cannot tell you the number of times I have run into someone with my name. I have always been told, "Everyone is unique and special. We are all one of a kind." If only this were true.      Don't get me wrong, I am very unique. My favourite food is black beans, I cry more often than most people, and my hiccups sound like a dying goose. But my name, it's so basic. In first grade, there was another Emma in my class, and our teacher made us sit beside each other. From that point on, she was Emma J and I was Emma L. And I was called Emma L for four years.      Did you know that my name is the second most popular name in the world? Just writing that makes me feel so generic. However, I guess I feel better knowing that all the Olivias out there are feeling worse than me, knowing that their name is number one in the world. At least both of these names are good ones. Just think about what life would be lik
